The first garden party of 2024 took place, Prince William reacted wonderfully to the torrential rains, but everyone regretted that the princess of the garden – Kate could not participate

Prince William was joined by the The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester along with the young royals

The Prince of Wales braved heavy rain at a Buckingham Palace garden party, joking it was “good weather for swimming.” William hosted the event on behalf of the King, with around 8,000 guests, including Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and Zara Tindall with her husband Mike, attending.

Despite the downpour, the young royals showed strong support for the King. William, in a top hat and morning suit, met guests including Duchy of Cornwall tenant farmers Julie and Matthew Hall, sharing his umbrella with them.

The prince left with a children’s book to read to Prince Louis and cookies from an RAF padre. He met with his patronages and members of the military, joking with Swim England executives about the weather being suitable for swimming.

The Tindalls spent time chatting with the public in the rain. William also received a self-penned children’s book from Rowan Aderyn, which he promised to read to Louis. Squadron Leader Chrissie Lacey, known for her early morning baking, gifted William cookies, which he accepted gratefully.

William mentioned that Prince George would love to visit RAF Coningsby, hinting at his son’s interest in flying.
