Buckingham Palace has announced a forthcoming engagement between the King and Prince William, following news that Charles will not meet his son Harry during the Duke’s UK visit.

The Palace has announced King Charles will meet with one of his sons - William - on Monday to hand over the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to the Prince of Wales

Tonight, Prince Harry met with a millionaire financier, as he acknowledged that King Charles’s schedule was too tight to accommodate a meeting, which experts interpreted as a significant gesture underscoring their strained relationship.

Now, the Palace has disclosed that King Charles will meet with one of his sons, William, on Monday to formally pass on the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to the Prince of Wales.

In a statement today, Buckingham Palace declared: “His Majesty The King will officiate at the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop, formally transferring the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.

“In August 2023, following His Majesty’s Accession, The King was pleased to announce military appointments, including The Prince of Wales assuming the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps, a position previously held by His Majesty The King, as Prince of Wales, for 31 years.”

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, arrived in the UK today unaccompanied, flying in from California for a ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in London tomorrow.

Despite hopes of meeting his estranged father during this trip, Harry’s spokesman stated, “It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme. The Duke of course understands his father’s commitments and hopes to see him soon.”

Instead, as confirmed by the Duke’s foundation Archewell, he will meet with city financier Guy Monson.

Royal experts have interpreted these developments as indicative of the deep divide within the family, noting that the absence of a meeting between the King and Prince Harry is likely to be widely perceived as a snub.

Monson, a trustee of the Invictus Games Foundation and former treasurer to the Cambridges and the Sussexes’ joint foundation, has longstanding ties with the royal family.

Buckingham Palace has announced a joint engagement between the King and Prince William next week after it emerged Charles will not see his other son Harry during the Duke's UK visit

Tomorrow, the Duke is scheduled to participate in a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, marking a decade since the inaugural Invictus Games in 2014. While senior royals are not expected to attend, Harry’s presence underscores the significance of the event to him.

Despite the significance of this gathering, it’s uncertain whether any reconciliation between Harry and the Royal Family will occur, given the deeply entrenched divisions.
