Meghan Markle’s Cooking Show Faces Unusual Challenges at Cannabis Farm

Meghan Markle’s anticipated cooking show for Netflix is underway, but it’s not without its peculiarities. The Duchess of Sussex, accompanied by a large film crew, has opted to film at a 14-acre cannabis farm, among other locations, for her culinary endeavors. While production has commenced, it’s worth noting that none of the upcoming musical celebrations for Coronation Day will feature her anthem, “Make A Joyful Noise”.

Choosing to film at a smaller property nearby instead of their lavish Montecito mansion, Meghan and crew are facing an unexpected choice of backdrop. The cannabis farm, owned by the Van Wingerden family, has stirred controversy due to the intense skunk-like odor that permeates the Carpinteria area, where the farm is situated. This has led to numerous complaints from residents, resulting in lawsuits and demands for odor abatement technologies.

Despite the challenges posed by the farm’s pungent aroma, Meghan remains focused on her new venture as executive producer of the cooking show, aiming to celebrate the joys of cooking and gardening. Directed by Michael Steed and with Leah Hariton as showrunner, the series promises to offer an array of products, including skincare, makeup, gardening equipment, and scented candles. However, as Meghan navigates through the challenges of filming at the cannabis farm, her husband Prince Harry faces potential scrutiny over his past drug use, which he candidly revealed in his memoir “Spare”.
