Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the United States just hours before Californian officials resolved a dispute surrounding their charity, the Archewell Foundation. The California Department of Justice had previously listed the foundation as ‘not in good standing’ due to an alleged failure to pay a $200 renewal fee.

The Archewell Foundation was listed as 'delinquent' by a US charity regulator overnight

The issue arose when Archewell was accused of neglecting to send the renewal fee to California’s Registry of Charities and Fundraisers. Although the registry claimed Archewell had not submitted its annual report or renewal fees, sources close to the Sussexes argued that they believed the $200 cheque had been lost in the mail and had not been processed by the Attorney General’s office.

Subsequently, Archewell reached out to California’s Department of Justice to resolve the matter. The DoJ has since confirmed that the issue has been resolved, and the Archewell Foundation is now considered ‘current and in good standing’ with Californian authorities.
