Prince Harry Receives Warm Welcome at St Paul’s Cathedral for Invictus Games Anniversary

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, arrived at St Paul’s Cathedral in London this afternoon (May 8) to cheers and sunshine, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games with a thanksgiving service. Harry founded the Games for injured servicemen and women in 2014.

Footage shared by ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship shows Harry arriving and being warmly greeted by well-wishers. Comments on the post echoed the support, with many expressing admiration for Harry.

However, not all reactions were positive. Some criticized Harry for his treatment of the late Queen and his absence from King Charles’s garden party. Despite the mixed reception, Harry was supported by his Uncle, Earl Spencer, and Aunt, Lady Jane Fellowes, who attended the service.

Harry arrived in the UK on May 7, hoping to meet his father, King Charles. However, due to the King’s busy schedule, a meeting couldn’t be arranged. Harry’s representative stated that the Duke understands his father’s commitments and hopes to see him soon. Prince William was in Windsor, stepping in for the monarch at an investiture ceremony.

A similar surprisingly warm welcome was extended in the comments section of Chris’ post.

“So much love for our Prince,” said one. “I hear cheers,” said another.

“Yesssss!!!! Well done Harry!” said another.

The Duke of Sussex did, of course, come in for some stick. “Get lost Prince Harry. You are a disgrace to your country. We will NOT forget your treatment of our late Queen in her last year of life. Go home!” blasted one.

“Do I hear someone yelling traitor?” quipped another. Another joked about Harry’s lack of invitation to his father King Charles’ garden party.
