King Charles was reportedly incensed by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s recent visit to Nigeria, which they undertook seemingly without royal approval. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020, visited Nigeria last week at the invitation of the Nigerian military, ostensibly for Harry’s Invictus Games.

Royal expert Tom Quinn described William as “absolutely furious” and Charles as “angrier than anyone has ever seen him” after witnessing coverage of the visit. Concerns within the Royal Family about Meghan and Harry’s intentions were apparently confirmed, with the couple accused of treating the trip like an official royal tour.
