If you’re a diehard New York Mets fan…or somebody who wants the perfect excuse to dress up in a giant costume on a frequent basis…then a dream job awaits you.
On LinkedIn, the New York Mets have posted a job opening for someone to don the costume of their mascot, Mr. Met. Under their qualifications, the most specific one is having experience (or something “similar”) in a mascot role.
And here’s the special catch: The Mets are offering a salary of roughly $67,426.79 to $89,000 a year. The job averages only about 20-25 in-office hours per week and 6-24 hours per week worth of performances as a mascot:
“We are seeking a high-energy, enthusiastic individual to represent our brand as our Mascot. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for entertainment and a knack for engaging and interacting with fans of all ages. The Mascot will attend various events, both on and off-site, to promote our brand and create a fun and dynamic environment.”
Mr. Met’s salary will equal that of WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark.
Mr. Met is one of the more recognizable sports mascots because of its signature and giant-sized baseball head. Mr. Met debuted in 1963 and is one of the baseball team’s two mascots, along with Mrs. Met.
Expectations were minimal for the New York Mets heading into the offseason after owner Steve Cohen gave the green light for a fire sale at the trade deadline. But New York has been a mild surprise in the first half of the season, entering Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs with a 14-14 record.
A Dream Job For Any New York Mets Fan
If you’re one of the millions of passionate Mets fans across the United States, then the “Mr. Met” mascot job is perfect for you.
What better job than one that pays you over $67,000 annually to dress up as the beloved sports mascot? That means special perks such as befriending the players, coaches, and team staffers and being able to watch all the home games for free.
Regardless of how the Mets perform on the field, you’ll have difficulty finding a better way to spend an afternoon (or evening) at Citi Field in Queens. There’s just nothing like enjoying a night out at the ballpark in one of the world’s most desirable cities.
