On September 12, the Los Angeles Times reported that PnB Rock, the renowned Philadelphia rapper known for his 2016 hit “Selfish,” was shot dead in a robbery at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles.
Lieutenant Kelly Muniz, representing the Los Angeles police, stated that the shooting occurred around 1 p.m. at the restaurant on Manchester Boulevard. The robber used a gun inside the restaurant, threatening and demanding valuable belongings from the victims. PnB Rock and his girlfriend became targets of the robber due to the jewelry they were wearing. Subsequently, the robber shot PnB Rock and fled on a nearby vehicle.
The police further stated that they are examining security footage from inside the restaurant to identify the shooter. Additionally, law enforcement is enhancing surveillance camera checks in the surrounding areas to see if any footage captured by the security system shows any images left by the suspect.
PnB Rock, whose real name is Rakim Allen, was born in 1991 in Philadelphia, USA. The rapper once shared with Paper magazine that he was inspired to make music at the age of 19 after listening to Drake’s album “Take Care.”
PnB Rock’s musical sensibility combined with his unique rap delivery has made him a promising rapper in the hip-hop scene. The rapper gained widespread recognition after releasing the single “Fleek” in 2015. He has also collaborated with many famous artists such as Ed Sheeran, XXXTENTACION, Chance the Rapper, and others.
