Hailey Van Lith regrets not having a chance to redo Monday’s game in Albany, New York, where she defended Iowa Hawkeyes’ star Caitlin Clark in a tough Elite 8 rematch from last year. Van Lith, now with LSU after playing for Louisville, faced a challenging match.
Van Lith faced struggles on the court and off during the game. Afterward, she found herself a trending topic online due to leaked personal photos. While the images highlighted her beauty, this unwanted exposure added to the challenges she faced after the loss.
Leaked images included Van Lith posing in various outfits, such as a long, tight dress and a black dress, as well as a pink bikini while on a boat. Additionally, a video showed her twerking in the locker room. Despite the attention these garnered, Van Lith remains focused on moving past the disappointment of the game and the privacy breach.
Unidentified career path for Van Lith
LSU women’s basketball stars Hailey Van Lith and Angel Reese face critical decisions this week. They must choose between staying at LSU for a fifth year of college hoops or entering the WNBA Draft for a professional career. Despite completing four years of NCAA basketball, both players have the option to extend their college eligibility for a fifth season due to COVID-19 rules.
The deadline for entering the WNBA Draft was at the end of March for all college players, but those whose teams were still in the NCAA Women’s Tournament could delay their decision until 48 hours after their final game. Following the Tigers’ loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Elite 8 on Monday night, Van Lith and Reese are now weighing their options. Reese is expected to be a top-10 selection in the 2024 WNBA Draft, while Van Lith may be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.
With the WNBA currently comprising 12 teams and the draft spanning three rounds, a total of 36 players will be selected on April 15th.
