On the day of the 2024 WNBA draft, UConn Huskies standout Paige Bueckers stood in solidarity with her friend and teammate, Nika Muhl, as they awaited the draft results.
Radiating excitement, Bueckers ensured her presence at the event to cheer on Muhl and Aaliyah Edwards, both invited to the prestigious draft. Dressed in a chic all-white ensemble featuring a stylish jacket, formal pants, and a Louis Vuitton handbag, Bueckers exuded elegance and sophistication. Her accessorizing with a chunky gold necklace and rings added a touch of glamour to her look, perfectly complementing the overall ensemble.
In a heartwarming moment captured by fashion stylist Brittany Hampton, Bueckers shared laughs and camaraderie with Muhl and fellow teammate Azzi Fudd, showcasing the bonds of friendship and support within the UConn basketball community.
Paige Bueckers opts for UConn over WNBA
Paige Bueckers, widely acclaimed as one of college basketball’s finest, surprised many by opting to extend her stay with the UConn Huskies rather than declaring for the 2024 WNBA draft.
Despite contending with injury setbacks in prior seasons, Bueckers rebounded this year, delivering stellar performances without interruption. Averaging 21.9 points on 53% shooting, along with 5.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists, she solidified her reputation as a standout player.
The Huskies commemorated her exceptional season with a reel on their Instagram, affirming their trust in their star player with the simple caption: “Art.”
The head coach of the team, Geno Auriemma, has always supported the star player even when her career was about to derail because of her ACL injuries. The coach is also responsible for bringing out the best of Paige Bueckers to the court.
Following UConn’s second-round win against Syracuse, Auriemma praised Paige.
“We have the best player in America,” Auriemma said. “And, you know, just saying that because the numbers in this world of analytics, the numbers say that she is.”
“And the whole stat sheet says that she is. And everybody that watched knows it, and we’re fortunate. And we get to go back to where it ended for us last year, and I think we’re a different team, different mindset, and we’re hoping for a different outcome.”
