In a press release issued on Wednesday, CBS Sports and the WNBA unveiled a new multi-year deal, marking the largest number of games televised online to date. Starting from the 2024-25 season, CBS Sports will broadcast eight regular-season games annually, along with 12 additional games televised on CBS Sports Network throughout the duration of the agreement. This expansion builds upon the existing 5-year partnership between CBS Sports and the WNBA.
The 2024 season will kick off on Saturday, May 25th, with the Minnesota Lynx facing off against the New York Liberty on CBS. Meanwhile, CBS Sports Network coverage will commence with a game between the Connecticut Sun and the Chicago Sky.
Notably, the WNBA has also adjusted its broadcasting approach to cater to fans interested in following the standout potential draft pick Caitlin Clark of the Iowa Hawkeyes. In a move announced on Wednesday, 36 out of 40 regular-season games of the Indiana Fever will be nationally televised. Clark is predicted to be selected by the Fever as the overall number one pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Additionally, 10 of these nationally televised games will be available on major networks such as ABC, ESPN, ESPN 2, and CBS, as well as platforms like Amazon Prime Video and NBA TV. This marks a significant increase from last year when only one Fever game was nationally televised.
Furthermore, the reigning champions, the Las Vegas Aces, will have 35 out of their 40 games televised live on television.
