“OMG -just rec’d word that my buddy for several decades who helped me so much in my career Howie Schwab passed this morning,” Vitale tweeted. “Just received the news from his loving wife Suzie. May he RIP!” legendary.”
“So sad to learn of the passing of my loyal dedicated buddy Howie Schwab – he was recently at my home,” he shared later on. “Had various health issues but was feeling good when he visited.“

Howie Schwab Was The Man To Beat At ESPN
Howie Schwab, although predominantly a behind-the-scenes figure at ESPN since joining the network in 1987, rose to fame as the star of the sports trivia game show “Stump the Schwab” in 2004, which was hosted by the late Stuart Scott.
The show featured contestants competing against each other in sports trivia challenges, with the ultimate test being to outwit Schwab himself, renowned for his encyclopedic knowledge of sports spanning all eras.
“Stump the Schwab” enjoyed a successful four-season run before concluding in 2006. Schwab also made notable appearances during the early days of the program “First Take.”
In 2013, he departed ESPN and later transitioned to FOX Sports, where he contributed as a writer and consultant for “Sports Jeopardy!”
