Angel Reese shows true colors with Hailey van Lith message after LSU transfer | Marca

Angel Reese, a standout college star and 2023 NCAA champion, made waves in the 2024 WNBA draft when she was selected by the Chicago Sky as the seventh overall pick. Since joining the team, Reese has been fully committed to giving her all in practice sessions, quickly recognizing the differences between the college ranks and the professional level.

As part of one of the most highly anticipated WNBA drafts, Reese has already gained valuable insights into the intensity of professional competition, even before stepping onto the court for her first game.

In an interview with WGN News, Reese expressed her enthusiasm for integrating with the squad, relishing the opportunity to compete alongside some of the top women’s basketball players in the world.

“I’m working up a sweat before practice so I’m getting here at 8, 9 o’clock I’m already ready to go– I used to workout before practice at LSU but it wasn’t like this,” said Reese. “Just being able to adjust to that has been good for me– my mom is worried about me, I’m telling her ‘I’m good’ but it’s been good. I’m loving this.”

Theresa Wetherspoon Aims to Streamline Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso’s Transition to Professional Basketball

The Chicago Sky scored big in the 2024 WNBA draft by securing two first-round picks, Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese, bolstering their frontcourt with youthful talent.

Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, a WNBA legend herself, is focused on ensuring that her rookies experience a seamless transition into the team by keeping things simple and straightforward.

“Simplicity is key. You want to keep the game simple. That helps them to grow,” said Weatherspoon at the 1:53 mark. “You have people coming in to next level, I don’t want to complicate anything, I want to keep it simple. I’m building confidence as we continue to grow in every practice. Once that confidence is built, you can do a lot of things.”

The Chicago Sky concluded the 2023 season with an 18-22 record, securing the final spot for the playoffs. However, their postseason journey was short-lived as they were swept in three games by the Las Vegas Aces.

For the 2024 season opener, the Sky will hit the road to face the Dallas Wings on May 15 at the College Park Center. It will be a baptism by fire for rookies Angel Reese and Kamila Cardoso as they make their professional debut against formidable opponents like Satou Sabally and Arike Ogunbowale.
