Lakers legends meet Cameron Brink and company

Last night, LA Sparks rookies Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson attended Game 3 of the LA Lakers. The WNBA prospects seized the opportunity to meet Lakers legends Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Photos were captured during their encounter at Crypto.com Arena.

The city of Los Angeles has embraced the arrival of the new stars of their WNBA team. Both Brink and Jackson were drafted on the same night and were lottery picks (Brink at second pick and Jackson at fourth pick). Many anticipate that this rookie duo will become a formidable force in the league for seasons to come.

Brink and Jackson weren’t the sole rookies fortunate enough to meet the Lakers legends. McKenzie Forbes, whom the Sparks drafted with the 28th pick in the third round, also had the honor of meeting the NBA icons.

The trio of rookies is gearing up for their debut on Saturday, May 4, against the Seattle Storm in a preseason game. Their second preseason matchup is slated for Friday, May 10, against the Phoenix Mercury. The regular season kicks off on Wednesday, May 15, against the Atlanta Dream.

Magic Johnson expects big things from Cameron Brink and Co.

Magic Johnson, a five-time NBA champion during his tenure in LA, is synonymous with championship success. Now, those expectations have been inherited by Cameron Brink, Rickea Jackson, and McKenzie Forbes.

The Lakers legend took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his support for the WNBA rookies, along with his expectations for them as they embark on this new chapter of their basketball journey.

It may be a challenging task for the trio of rookies, but the franchise is confident they can lead the Sparks to a championship. The last time they won a title was in 2016 when they beat the Minnesota Lynx 3-2 in a best-of-five finals series.
