Caitlin Clark to Enter 2024 WNBA Draft

The WNBA is wasting no time in putting Caitlin Clark in the spotlight as she transitions to the professional ranks.

Clark, expected to be the top pick for the Indiana Fever in the upcoming 2024 WNBA Draft on April 15, is set to bring significant attention to the team. In a recent announcement, the WNBA revealed that the Fever will enjoy extensive national coverage, with 36 out of their 40 games scheduled to be televised nationally. Furthermore, 13 of these games will be broadcast on NBA TV, further amplifying the exposure for Clark and the Fever.

“The WNBA announced today the Indiana Fever will play 36 of 40 regular season games on national television during the 25th regular season in franchise history.

The first four games of the Fever regular season schedule will appear on ABC, ESPN or Prime Video platforms. Throughout the regular season, Indiana will play two games on ABC, five games on ESPN, one game on ESPN 2, two games on CBS, one game on CBS Sports Network, eight games on ION, four games on Prime Video and 13 games on NBA TV.”

Clark’s name wasn’t mentioned in the announcement, but it’s obvious that her looming arrival is why the WNBA wishes to give the Fever as much national television time as possible.

The Iowa-South Carolina national championship game on Monday shattered records, becoming the most-watched women’s college basketball game in history. With an average of 18.7 million viewers and a peak of 24 million, it’s clear that Caitlin Clark’s imminent transition to the WNBA will likely result in historic increases in television ratings and a broader global fanbase.

In her concluding college basketball campaign, Clark maintained an exceptional performance, averaging 31.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game, with an impressive shooting accuracy of 45.5 percent from the field. Despite her stellar efforts, the Hawkeyes succumbed to South Carolina in the national championship game, concluding their season with a score of 87-75.

Caitlin Clark Will Be A Franchise Changer For The Fever

The Fever’s recent seasons have been challenging, finishing with a 13-27 record last year and missing the playoffs for the seventh consecutive year. However, with Clark joining the team, expectations are high for a swift turnaround.

As the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer, Clark’s exceptional talent is expected to elevate the team’s performance and propel them into playoff contention. Indiana’s season opener against Connecticut on May 14 will be broadcasted on ESPN, followed by their home opener against New York on May 16.
