Despite being the new WWE Champion now, Rhodes has not forgotten AEW, the organization that he and others set up as an alternative to other wrestling events. One of the main draws of AEW, the wrestler left it back in 2022. Yet, he has never disrespected his time or his mates there, and in a new interview, Rhodes clapped back at all those who disregard his contribution to AEW.

After a series of independent stints and much more, Cody Rhodes established All Elite Wrestling aka AEW, along with Tony Khan, The Young Bucks, Chris Jericho, and Kenny Omega in 2019. While his feat in the company was fascinating, he left AEW citing personal reasons back in 2022.

After he signed up with WWE again, to finish his story, there have been chants of disrespect and belittlement from certain factions who think his contribution to the company was equal to . And in a recent appearance on the Cheap Heat podcast, Rhodes clapped back on all the hate.

“The narrative changed a lot about my contributions to AEW. That was very disappointing. TChere were some people, I’m not going to say their names, they know who they were, who kind of tried to put some propaganda out when I left. There’s a quote in the Young Bucks book about how I was last to the signing. Me, Matt, and Nick are as close as ever. So glad I had them in my career and my life. If we are being honest, AEW does not happen without me. It doesn’t. With that in mind, I could never root against them.”

Thus stating that he would never have a problem with AEW and his former mates, Rhodes’s comments declare that despite his (viawith AEW he would never stop supporting them.

Cody Rhodes Knows AEW Would Not Have Existed Without Him

Cody Rhodes’ statement to the Cheap Heat podcast is pretty bold, yet even fans know that there is more truth in it than false (see X). Ever since Rhodes left the organization, several problems seem to be facing AEW and it is always in the news for one thing or the other.

Yet Rhodes’ recent comments are not the first time that the now-WWE champ spoke up about the issue, for even in 2022, while responding to a fan tweet, the wrestler had similar comments to make.

Facts are all out there to see…without Brandi or I it wouldn’t exist. Look no further than some of the infrastructure in place or even half the names of the events. Tony, Bucks, Kenny, Jericho, Dana, Hang…pioneers. I’ve moved on to the next stage for me, but beautiful memories.

The three-time TNT Title winner thus knows that without him AEW would not have existed or even reached the place it is now. And as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion continues with his career, fans hope his contribution to AEW or the world of wrestling will not be overlooked anymore.
