Gabbie Marshall’s college basketball career at lowa came to an end following the conclusion of her senior season in April. The guard’s last game for the Hawkeyes was against South Carolina in the national championship game.
Set to make her way out of lowa in the next couple of weeks, Marshall penned a heartfelt message to the Hawkeyes fans, showing appreciation for the opportunity she received in her five years with the program.
“As I am nearing my last month in Iowa City ready to take on the next chapter of my life, I have had lots of time to reflect on all the incredible memories I have made, opportunities I have been given, people I have met, and friendships that will last forever.
Thank you, Iowa and Hawkeye Nation for being my home away from home, for showing me so much love and support & for giving me the best ending to the sport that has shaped my life.”
Former teammate at lowa Kate Martin was quick to react to the goodbye message Gabbie Marshall posted on Instagram. The guard, who was selected in the second round of the 2024 WNBA
Draft by the Las Vegas Aces, showed some love to Marshall in the comment section.
“Love you Boozus,” Martin wrote.

Was Gabbie Marshall selected in the 2024 WNBA Draft?
Gabbie Marshall ended her time at lowa this year, but the guard was not invited to the 2024 WNBA Draft. She had no intention of becoming a pro and didm’t declare for the draft.
She discussed this with the media in her last days with the Hawkeyes.
“I think in my other years I’ve just focused on improving in basketball, which I’m still doing but at the same time, I know I’m nearing the end of my basketball career forever. I’m just trying to soak in all the memories off and on the court.”
Marshall played in 166 games during her five-year career at lowa. She boasts the most appearance in the Big Ten by any athlete in women’s college basketball. Nonetheless, she won’t be playing the game as a professional. She’s set to attend the University of North Carolina for her Master’s degree.
