Despite enduring a challenging statistical year and restricted playing time throughout the 2023–24 season, James opted to enter the 2024 NBA draft, while also considering the possibility of returning to college via the transfer portal. Around 200 players, including Bronny James, have declared as early-entry candidates for the draft, as reported by Marc J. Spears of ESPN. These players retain the option to withdraw and retain college eligibility for the 2024–2025 season until May 29.

Bronny James has been under scrutiny since his youth, especially during his tenure at Sierra Canyon High School. He, being LeBron James’ son, boasted an average of 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game during that period.

His trajectory encountered a pause when Bronny endured a cardiac incident while training with USC at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, keeping him away from basketball for five months.

Upon his return in December, James’ performance saw a decline, participating in 25 games and averaging merely 4.8 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds in slightly over 19 minutes per game. Consequently, the USC Trojans failed to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
