Caitlin Clark embarks on her WNBA journey after a historic college career
Upon joining the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2020, Caitlin Clark entered a program that had seen limited success in recent years, with only one Elite Eight appearance since the early 2000s (in 2019) and a previous one back in 1993, culminating in a Final Four berth. However, under her influence, the Hawkeyes have significantly improved their performance, reaching the NCAA Tournament finals twice.
Clark’s contributions extend beyond team success, as she has amassed numerous individual accolades. She holds the record for the highest career scoring total in NCAA Division I basketball, surpassing both male and female players. Additionally, she boasts the most 30-point games in Division I over the past quarter-century and made history as the first player ever to achieve three career 40-point games in NCAA tournament history.
Furthermore, Clark’s exceptional talent has been recognized with prestigious awards, including two Naismith Women’s College Player of the Year titles, two Wooden Award National Player of the Year distinctions, two Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year honors, and two WBCA Wade Trophy wins.
Having concluded her illustrious college career, Clark has transitioned to the WNBA, where she was selected as the No. 1 pick by the Indiana Fever. She joins forces with last year’s top pick, Aliyah Boston, as they aim to elevate the Fever’s performance in the upcoming season.
The Indiana Fever are set to kick off their season on May 15 against the Connecticut Sun.
