After the Cleveland Cavaliers were sent on a vacation by the Celtics on Wednesday, doubts regarding Donovan Mitchell’s future with the franchise came into question. With J.B. Bickerstaff’s future in doubt, the Cavs are in for a deciding off-season and Donovan Mitchell will be at the center of discussion.

Donovan Mitchell wants championship

Mitchell has a contract with the Cavs that will expire next summer, so the franchise is now faced with the prospect of seeing their star guard hit free agency next year. Hence, if a contract extension is not signed soon, a trade is the best course of action for the Cavs and that’s where the speculations are growing. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, “Donovan Mitchell expects more… He wants this team to compete for a championship. He wants this team to aim higher than just the first round.”

Shams also reported there is a growing belief around the league that the 27-year-old will re-sign with the Cavs. Adrian Wojnarowski also revealed that Spida is happy at Cleveland, contrary to some reports suggesting his dissatisfaction with the franchise.

But till Donovan Mitchell puts pen to paper, the rumor mills will keep circulating.

Lakers Among the Teams Eyeing Donovan Mitchell Trade

Following their playoff loss to the Nuggets, the Lakers are another team who have a big summer coming up. With all the chatter surrounding LeBron James’ future and a new HC search, there are quite a lot of things on the memo for the LA franchise.
Adding more firepower to the supporting cast of LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be another priority for the Lakers as a third star is rumored to join in the summer. Jovan Buha of The Athletic touched on the matter and said, “Back in late February-early March, I said Trae Young is the most likely Star to become the Lakers 3rd Star. I would change that answer now to Donovan Mitchell.

Apart from the Lakers, the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat are the two other interested parties in the Donovan Mitchell chase. LeBron James was recently seen attending a Cavs game, sparking numerous speculations about a potential return to the Cavs. If that does not materialize, there are enough chances for LBJ and Mitchell teaming up in the Gold and Purple threads of the Lakers.
