Caitlin Clark and Zach Edey gained widespread attention after their joint appearance in a photograph.

These former collegiate standouts recently experienced disappointment at the conclusion of March Madness, despite reaching the finals. Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes fell short in the women’s national championship game, succumbing to defeat against the South Carolina Gamecocks last Sunday. Similarly, Edey and the Purdue Boilermakers were defeated in the final by Dan Hurley’s formidable UConn Huskies the following night.

Notwithstanding these setbacks, both athletes were honored as recipients of the Wooden Award. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon the top male and female college basketball players each season, and the selection process was particularly clear-cut this year.

Edey averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds a game, taking Purdue all the way to the final. Clark averaged 31.6 points, 8.9 assists, and 7.4 rebounds per game during the season, also becoming college basketball’s highest-ever scorer.

They took a photo in front of the award signage on Friday night, and it went viral.

While there were plenty of positive comments, many fans pointed out that both players lost in their respective title games. You can check out some of the reactions below:

Edey’s clothing choice didn’t escape fans either…

Caitlin Clark and Zach Edey Are Headed To The Pros
Both Caitlin Clark and Zach Edey are turning pro this year. Clark is expected to go No. 1 overall in the WNBA Draft on Monday after an amazing four years in college.

Edey is projected to be a late first-round or early second-round pick when the NBA Draft rolls around in June. So perhaps he’ll get to have a go at Draymond Green for claiming he quit on Purdue in Monday’s final.
