Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” in the UK is expected to contribute approximately £997 million to the country’s economy.

Taylor Swift will hold 15 shows of The Eras Tour in the UK this summer, running from June 7 to August 20. Currently, 1.2 million tickets have been sold for these performances. According to a report gathered by the Daily Mail, each fan spends an average of £848 for a show. This amount is reported to be 12 times higher than the cost of an average night out in the UK, which is around £67 .Giọng ca Cruel Summer trên sân khấu The Eras Tour tại Pittsburgh, Mỹ hồi tháng 6/2023. The expenses include ticket prices, food and beverages before and after the event, accommodation, transportation, outfits, and merchandise (products produced by the artist). The Daily Mail provides specific estimated figures, with each fan spending £206 for a regular ticket and over £400 for VIP seats, an estimated £121 on accommodation, and £111 on transportation. About 18% of fans spend £56 on concert attire, £79 on merchandise, and £59 on dinner at restaurants near the concert venue.

Additionally, researchers note that 8% of fans plan to host or attend Taylor Swift-themed parties before and after the show, and around 7% spend money on home decorations celebrating their idol.

Dr. Peter Brooks, Director of Behavioural Analysis at Barclays Bank, UK, commented: “Those who say ‘Money can’t buy happiness’ are certainly not Swifties.”

According to him, there is growing evidence that spending money on experiences brings more happiness than material purchases, especially when shared with friends and family. Brooks highlighted that the strong connection between fans and their idol can drive a desire to spend. “For those who are not Taylor Swift fans, £848 might seem like an enormous amount to spend on a concert. But for the Swifties community, every penny spent is an investment in memories with their idol,” he said.
